Flyer designs for "අපේ ගමේ පැදුරු සාජ්ජේ", the Indigenous Day celebration by Business Management undergraduates at Sabaragamuwa University, inspired by traditional Sri Lankan village life.
"අපේ ගමේ පැදුරු සාජ්ජේ" (Our Village Mat Gathering) was the Indigenous Day event organized by the Department of Business Management at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka in 2024. The event was conducted under the subject Indigenous Management Practices, celebrating the traditional ways our communities lived, worked and came together.
I was part of the organizing team and also handled the flyer designs. The goal was to make the event feel warm, local and nostalgic, like a real village gathering, while still giving people all the details they needed at a glance.
For the visuals, I drew inspiration from traditional Sri Lankan village culture, using earthy colours, handcrafted textures and Sinhala typography to capture that "back to our roots" feeling. Each flyer had to do two jobs: catch attention on social media and get students excited to take part.
Being both an organizer and the designer meant I understood exactly what the event needed to communicate, which made the designs more meaningful and on point.
